Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Engineer to help us grow the data platform. You will be embedded in the Orchestration team that runs workflow scheduling packages and data ingestion infrastructure that enables the analytics, operations, and data science behind our flagship streaming packages - Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and Star+. You will have the opportunity to understand the challenges of facilitating a high-quality, seamless media streaming experience across mobile, connected devices, and web, all while using the latest technologies available from AWS and beyond. Responsibilities and Duties of the Role The key responsibilities of the Lead Data Engineer role include: Leading a cross-functional team of engineers to build software for a large-scale data processing environment supporting real-time and batch data that underpins all analytic and operational data flows Building tools and services to support data discovery, lineage, resiliency, and privacy compliance across the data platform Designing and developing CICD processes for infrastructure components that ensure high availability and agility Driving software engineering and architecture best practices and standards within the team and wider organization, alongside a culture of quality, innovation, and experimentation Providing mentorship and guidance for team members; evangelizing the platform, best-practices, data-driven decisions; identifying new use cases and capabilities and driving adoption Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Training The basic qualifications for the Lead Data Engineer role include: 3+ years of applicable professional experience Fluency in Python and Scala Deep experience deploying and running cloud-based data solutions (ideally AWS) and infrastructure-as-code frameworks like Terraform Ability to dive deep into any technical aspect as well as understand and drive the overall systems architecture Excellent written and verbal communication skills The preferred qualifications for the Lead Data Engineer role include: Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field Experience maintaining real-time data infrastructure such as Kinesis or Kafka Expertise with workflow scheduler tools such as Airflow Experience with Scala, Python, Terraform, and AWS What We Offer The hiring range for this role is $35 to $45 per hour. The base pay actually offered will consider internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive devices may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the level and function offered.
