About the Item and Information Designing Group The Item and Information Designing group is responsible for end-to-end development for Disney's elite customer-facing products, including streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, and digital products and experiences across ESPN, Marvel, Disney Studios, NatGeo, and ABC News. As a Senior Software Engineer in this group, you will play a crucial role in driving development at scale for millions of consumers worldwide across Apple, Android, Smart TVs, game consoles, and the web. Job Summary This is an active designing position focused on developing the ESPN tvOS in Swift. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work with a cross-functional team of Product Managers, Designers, Mobile/Web/Backend Engineers, and Content Creators to conceptualize and develop elite Disney applications. Based on your experience, you will apply your technical capabilities to manage multiple project needs, deadlines, and expectations, and will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software solutions. You will also engineer reusable solutions that are shared across all Disney applications and assist in guiding others to solve complex problems and provide oversight and direction to other programmers. Key Responsibilities Write efficient, reliable, and effective code, whether implementing design enhancements, customer-facing features, or fixing bugs. Work with minimal technical supervision and supplemental engineering support. Collaborate in a small, functional development team as well as the larger engineering organization. Investigate and resolve issues, problems, and errors experienced across our different platforms. Manage competing needs in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: 5+ years of active professional experience in iOS/tvOS development. BS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline or equivalent. Solid understanding of OO and Swift design patterns and concepts. A sound understanding of HTTP and REST-style web services. Demonstrated ability to design and build dynamic, multi-threaded iOS/tvOS applications. Strong understanding of iOS application development life cycle, including Apple App Store compliance policies and submission requirements. Experience with Apple frameworks like UIKit, AVFoundation, Security, and StoreKit. Advanced self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience with tvOS-specific functionality, including the Core Engine, SIRI Remote, and the Elite. Experience building video-based applications with knowledge of the HLS protocol and Fairplay DRM.
