Summary:The Specialist, Cash Posting is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of manual and electronicpayments are accurately applied and reconciled within a timely manner. Duties and Responsibilities:Payment posting manual/Electronic (ERA’s) patient and insurance payments, adjustments, and/or denialsLocate remittances & payments in various portals &/or clearinghouseRead and interpret EOB’sApply copay/coinsurance and deductible balances to patient responsibilityReview of patient account balances as needed to determine posting accuracyPerform payment deposit downloads and bank reconciliationsDaily cash reconciliation and reportingResearch and resolve unapplied accountsFlexibility to cross train/assist with training/cover for other team members and/or with other projects as neededIdentify and report on trends/issuesPrepare, reconcile and complete the local bank deposits for mail patient/insurance/accounting payments & other hospital/clinic departments (does not apply to home-based candidates)Maintain/reconcile petty cash funds, process point of service patient payments (does not apply to home-based candidates)Post monthly agency payment reportsWork to resolve unidentified depositsWork posting issue work queuesKnowledge, Skills andAbilities:10 key calculator skills preferredAbility to read, speak, and write fluent EnglishData entry experienceFamiliarity with computers (MS/Excel applications). Basic to intermediate Excel skills preferredRequires developed communication skills to effectively work with all levels of management, peers and clients. Possesses excellent written and verbal communications. Ability to work as a team member, creating and maintaining effective working relationships. Must adapt and demonstrate the ability to work independently in a quiet, dedicated workspace from home in a fast-paced, changing and goal-oriented environmentMust be detail oriented, a strong multi-tasker, resourceful and possess the ability to apply critical thinking skills to make good and independent decisions. Candidate must exhibit excellent time management organizational skillsWork Experience, Education and Certificates:Minimum of 3-5 years (preferred) prior direct cash handling experience in healthcare settingHigh school diploma or GED equivalent requiredHome-Based (remote) position requires a reliable high speed internet connectionWorking Conditions and Physical Requirements:100% RemoteReliable high-speed internet connection is required for all remote/hybrid positions. Must have access to stable Wi-Fi with sufficient bandwidth to support video conferencing, cloud-based tools, and other online work-related activities. A HIPAA-compliant work environment is required, including a secure workspace free from unauthorized access or interruptions, no use of public Wi-Fi unless connected through a secure company-provided VPN, and compliance with all applicable HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
