Role Snapshot: Location: Remote Position: Data Engineer, Mobility Compensation: A competitive salary ranging from $75,000 to $160,000 per year Start Date: Immediate openings available Company: GEICO Position Summary We're seeking an experienced Data Engineer with a passion for building scalable, resilient distributed systems for data ingestion, processing, and analysis. As a Data Ops Engineer II, Mobility, you'll work closely with cross-functional teams to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. You'll have the opportunity to work with a wide range of technologies, including Python, C#, SQL, NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services, and Azure tools and services. Key Responsibilities: Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems for data ingestion, processing, and analysis Create dashboards that display next-level metrics for consumption Design and implement data quality solutions, data lineage solutions, and data products Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle Utilize programming languages like Python, C#, SQL, and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services, and Azure tools and services Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams Assume ownership of existing business processes and services, and drive enhancements and continuous improvement Work with senior engineers to define technical architecture and support the implementation of new hardware standards/services Support projects migrating from existing platforms to new platforms Analyze and estimate skills, and drive proof of concepts to test new technologies Assure 24x7 operations and stability of services with high regard for end-user experience Provide knowledge share, mentoring, and systems training to junior team members as needed Essential Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience in Big Data 2+ years of experience with architecture and design 2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service 2+ years of experience in open-source frameworks Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms Understanding of existing Operational Portals such as Azure Portal Understanding of HTML-5, JavaScript/TypeScript, XML, and JSON Preferred Qualifications: Experience with GIT and the overall GIT lifestyle Experience with GraphDB Experience with Big Data and the tooling on our Big Data Platform (Hadoop, Hive, Kafka) Experience with Load test tooling (Gatling) Experience with troubleshooting tools such as Dynatrace, Thousand Eyes, Influx, Spark GUI, Yarn Logs, ETL Metrics, and Grafana Experience with Containerization using Docker and Kubernetes Understanding of Java programming fundamentals Understanding of Spring Boot Framework Web Service APIs with technologies such as Rest and GraphQL Experience with SQL Queries Experience with CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, Gradle, Artifactory, etc.) Experience with Spark and Scala with a beginning understanding of DSaT MDF Experience with Enterprise Reporting Tool (Qlik or MicroStrategy) Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits: At GEICO, we're committed to helping our associates grow and develop their skills.
