POSITION SUMMARY This position transcribes dictation of surgical pathology reports, correspondence and autopsies in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of healthcare services. Ensures reports are completed and submitted to pathology in a timely manner. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT FACTORS Requires extensive sitting with periodic standing and walking. Requires significant use of personal computer, phone and general office equipment. Needs adequate visual acuity. Ability to communicate effectively. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Pass Manager-provided typing test at time of interview. • Two (2) years’ experience as a medical transcriptionist. • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. • Excellent written and oral communication skills including English usage, grammar and punctuation. • Ability to understand diverse accents and dialects and varying dictation styles. • Excellent listening skills. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. • Ability to work under pressure with time constraints. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Two (2) years’ experience in Anatomic Pathology performing Transcription.
