As a Data Scientist in our New Product Introduction group, you will be responsible for designing and implementing data pipelines, analytics, and visualization tools that enable data-driven decision-making across cross-functional teams. Your work will have a direct impact on the company's efficiency, product development, and manufacturing processes. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement robust, flexible, and automated software tools to enable complex analysis of real-time data Answer complex questions on change impact on manufacturing and provide data-driven insights to stakeholders Cross-communicate data from different data storage locations and develop data visualizations to convey insights effectively Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, supplier, and IT teams to drive business outcomes Contribute to the automation and standardization of data pipelines and develop decision support tools Analyze and determine optimal solutions for change integration with manufacturing, other Tesla plants, and suppliers Provide thought leadership in analytics, modeling, and leadership to advance team's capability and outcome Develop and program manage execution of solutions and business processes that are optimized for speed, accuracy, cost efficiency, capacity, and flexibility Foster decision support tools, tools, and models that are scalable and reproducible to aid in planning growth and decision-making for Tesla Work with stakeholders to take an ambiguous problem statement, refine the scope of the analysis, and use the results to drive informed decisions Summarize and clearly communicate data analysis assumptions and results to stakeholders Build data pipelines to advance ad-hoc data analysis into production dashboards that practitioners can rely on Design and execute metrics, applications, and tools that will enable engineers by allowing them to self-serve their data insights Work with engineers to drive adoption of your applications and tools Write clean and tested code that can be maintained and extended by other programmers Work and support production applications and stay up-to-date on relevant technologies and methodologies Identify trends, design new ways of looking at data, and set innovative up to drive improvements in both existing and future products Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering) or equivalent experience and proof of outstanding ability Strong knowledge of data structures, schemas, and languages like SQL Experience and interest in data visualization techniques Ability to issue fix and change priorities with minimal early notification to meet time constraints Strong verbal and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications To stand out in this role, you will need: Experience with statistical programming (R), database languages (SQL), simulation tools (Field, AnyLogic, FlexSim), data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, d3.js) Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and continually evolving high-growth environment Comfortable in an environment with unstructured, incomplete, and ambiguous data Strong foundation in statistics and experience building data visualizations Experience writing software in a professional environment Curious and driven to solve complex problems Smart but humble, with a bias for action Strong engineering skills and demonstrated history of outstanding ability (e.g., you personally solved difficult problems that made a significant difference on major projects) Some familiarity with deep learning fundamentals; experience training neural networks and analyzing results What We Offer As a Data Scientist at Tesla, you will have the opportunity to work on complex and challenging problems that have a direct impact on the company's success.
