Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and skilled Apple Health Visual Communications and UX Designer to join our team. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing marketing, promotional, and reporting communications for Apple Health and COFA Islander Health Care programs. Your expertise in visual design, web accessibility, and user experience will be essential in creating effective, usable, and clear communication materials that comply with federal and state standards and laws. Key Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and implement the marketing communications and user experience solutions program for Apple Health (Medicaid), COFA Islander Health Care programs, and clinical quality and care transformation (CQCT) communications. Develop and maintain Apple Health brand standards, ensuring consistency across all communication materials. Collaborate with communications and program staff to design, write, and edit communication products that follow agency brand standards and appropriate design methods for web and print use. Determine the most effective way of getting the agency's message across in print and electronic media, in accordance with agency standards and industry best practices. Establish and maintain production schedules and editorial calendar for publications and printing, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of communication materials. Support annual publication review process, ensuring that all communication materials are up-to-date and compliant with relevant laws and regulations. Ensure graphic and web products comply with guidelines for Americans with Disabilities Act and Title VI, and Section 508 web accessibility requirements, promoting equal access to information for all users. Qualifications and Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a combination of education, experience, and skills that demonstrate your expertise in graphic design, visual communications, and user experience. The required qualifications for this position are: Bachelor's degree in graphic design, English, communications, journalism, humanities, public relations, visual arts, fine arts, or related field, and three years of professional experience in graphic design. Or, two years of design school or college-level design training, and five years of professional experience in graphic design. Or, seven years of professional experience in graphic design. Demonstrated knowledge of the methods and techniques of visual design and printing, including use of Pantone Matching System, type, illustration, photography, and various layout techniques. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply plain language principles to written and visual communications. Knowledge of how to prepare electronic files for printing and provide detailed written instructions to printers. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to use graphic design software, especially Adobe InDesign, Acrobat Professional, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Lived experience with state-funded Apple Health or behavioral health programs. Professional communications experience with one or more of the following languages: Cambodian, Chinese, Korean, Laotian, Russian, Somali, Spanish, or Vietnamese. Professional experience with web accessibility and public service communications, e.g. state government. Familiarity with social media and video production techniques. Knowledge of web accessibility principles and experience applying them to products. Experience designing to graphic identity standards and/or experience developing a graphic identity program. Experience creating styles and templates in Microsoft Word for use by non-designers. Compensation, Perks, and Benefits The salary range for this position is $54,204.00 - $72,924.00 Annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
