Position Synopsis The Part-Time Statistics Analyst I role is a critical position within ESPN's Data and Information Gathering team. As a Details Expert I, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of sports data on ESPN platforms worldwide, including television graphics, the Bottom Line, ESPN.com, and more. You will work with automated data feeds and utilize manual data entry to guarantee the delivery of accurate, timely, and insightful sports information. Key Responsibilities Guarantee sports information disseminated by Data and Information is accurate, timely, and insightful. Work individually and in teams to deliver accurate detailed breakdowns, clock-and-score, and other metrics and data in real-time that power a multitude of ESPN products and creations. Create and maintain a working knowledge of Data and Information's role in fueling ESPN digital products and television productions. Verify the accuracy of your own work and that of others; perform with a consistently high level of attention to detail. Contribute to production, operations, and initiatives across the newsroom, and support newsroom leaders who are coordinating full- and part-time staff. Anticipate potential issues, both daily and long-term, and offer possible solutions. Communicate quickly and clearly with colleagues on these issues. Play a proactive role in working with colleagues in developing or refining production processes. Be an active participant in team and division meetings. Seek and respond to feedback around individual performance. Stay informed about current office policies and procedures. Essential Qualifications Working knowledge of teams, players, and the rules of sports. Full schedule availability, which will include evenings (only), weekends, and events. Ability to rapidly learn production processes that produce or maintain sports information that drives ESPN's digital and television products. Capacity to achieve a high level of content accuracy in time-sensitive production circumstances. Ability to communicate confidently - verbally and in writing - to production managers and colleagues about production issues and opportunities, often through the noise of a busy newsroom. Preferred Qualifications 1+ year of experience working in sports or statistics, ideally in media. Knowledge of how sports information is used in media and for research purposes. Working knowledge of ESPN products and creations. Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office products. Experience leading or training a team. Ability to speak and write Spanish. Experience using social media in a business or news environment. Education Requirements High School diploma or equivalent required. Advanced degree or equivalent preferred.
