Job Highlights Position: Experienced Full Stack Software Engineer – Web & Cloud Application Development Compensation: A competitive salary with a monthly range of $35-$40, depending on location and experience Company: FedEx Dataworks Location: Remote, with the possibility of working from anywhere in the US Start Date: Immediate openings available About the Role We're seeking an experienced full stack software engineer to join our team at FedEx Dataworks. As a key member of our engineering team, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and applications. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to drive business results, including confirmations of significant value for new business issues and creation-ready solutions for tasks and client-facing products. Key Responsibilities Lead a team responsible for planning, creating, and maintaining all application software and data pipelines for real-time/batch analysis, modeling, reporting, and data collection, ensuring data reliability, efficiency, and quality. Collaborate successfully with different teams in FedEx Dataworks, including Data Science, E-commerce Products, Supply Chain Solutions, and Platform Engineering, to ensure data supporting value-driven analysis is ingested and maintained in the FedEx enterprise data lake. Ensure a team of data engineers builds, deploys, and maintains data processing infrastructure that supports complex analysis across data science, product, application development, and critical groups. Ensure adherence to best practices to guarantee reliability, scalability, security, compliance, and data quality for all data resources. Manage the ingestion of data sources into the FedEx enterprise data lake. Support incident management methods to ensure high-quality data is available to data lake consumers. Resolve issues and communicate the status of team activities to senior management. Ensure proper data management, data stewardship, and data awareness practices are applied to data residing in the FedEx enterprise data lake. Provide sufficient staffing, and financial and legal oversight for a team of data engineers. Mentor and coach other colleagues to drive results and actually collaborate across cross-functional groups to deliver business objectives. Requirements To be successful in this role, you'll need: Essential Qualifications A bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field, such as Computer Science or Mathematics, or equivalent experience. Broad knowledge in data engineering and AI structures, including design, development, and execution of highly complex systems and data pipelines. Broad knowledge in Data Science, including design, development, and execution of large-scale or batch-based systems. A solid understanding of the transportation industry, competitors, and advancing technologies. Experience providing leadership in a general training or consulting setting. Experience as a leader or senior member of multi-functional project teams. Solid oral and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications A master's degree in a related field may be substituted for some of the required experience. Experience working with large-scale data processing technologies, such as Hadoop, Spark, or NoSQL databases. Experience with cloud-based platforms, such as AWS or Azure. Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI. Experience with agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban. Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you'll need: A convincing history of planning and delivering large-scale technical solutions that convey distinct, ongoing value. A solid foundation and experience in the use of modern descriptive, predictive, prescriptive, and ensemble modeling, high-level statistical methods, and complex numerical tools. The ability to make value-driven trade-offs and project prioritization decisions. The ability to drive change to support distributed teams to unblock particularly challenging technical obstacles, and to tackle through issues as they are still being defined. A plan-oriented outlook embracing ambiguity joined with a design mentality ready to make quick, practical decisions to improve performance and accelerate progress. Experience in the transportation industry and understanding of advancing technologies. Knowledge of analyzing large-scale structured and unstructured data using Scala and Python. Experience working with large-scale data processing technologies, such as Hadoop, Spark, or NoSQL databases. Experience with cloud-based platforms, such as AWS or Azure.
