We are seeking an experienced Endoscopy Technical Coordinator - Endoscopy Technician II to join our team, responsible for coordinating the maintenance and repair of endoscopy equipment, as well as providing technical support to our healthcare professionals. Job Summary The Endoscopy Technical Coordinator - Endoscopy Technician II will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Endoscopy Lab. This position requires a strong and diverse skillset, including technical expertise in endoscopy equipment maintenance and repair, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills. The successful candidate will work closely with our Nurse Managers, Endoscopy Technicians, Respiratory Therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide the Prisma Health Experience for all patients. Key Responsibilities Prepares patients, rooms, and equipment for GI procedures, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for our patients and healthcare professionals. Supervises all GI equipment maintenance, disinfection, and repairs, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order and meets regulatory standards. Assists the Director of Endoscopy in planning, communicating, and evaluating the activities of the Endoscopy Lab, providing technical expertise and support as needed. Works in conjunction with a registered nurse to provide high-quality patient care and support. Receives endoscopes in need of repair from Richland and Baptist campuses, assesses repair needs, and ships to the most appropriate repair service. Maintains repair records on all endoscopes, creating monthly repair damage/cost reports for the service line director. Reconciles repair invoices against monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in our financial processes. Works with department management and Supply Chain Management to reduce supply costs and maintain quality and physician satisfaction. Coordinates disposable equipment evaluations, working with Supply Chain and MD Buyline to assist the Director in the CER process. Follows CERs through the system to ensure timely Purchase Order generation and subsequent ordering of equipment. Demonstrates and maintains competency with all pulmonary and GI equipment and procedures, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and techniques. Coordinates skills check-off for staff endoscopy technicians, ensuring that all team members have the necessary skills and training to provide high-quality patient care. Assists RN Managers with annual performance evaluations of staff endoscopy technicians, providing feedback and support to help our team members grow and develop in their roles. Actively participates in the peer interview process for new employee candidates, helping to identify and recruit top talent to our team. Participates in monthly staff meetings and in-service education sessions, staying informed about departmental activities and contributing to our team's ongoing learning and development. Essential Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 2 years of experience in a high-tech, progressive endoscopy environment. BLS certification required. Endoscopy Tech skills required, with one to two additional years of specialized training preferred. Associate's degree preferred. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a leadership or supervisory role, with a strong track record of motivating and guiding team members. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, and families. Strong technical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex medical equipment. Experience with electronic medical records and other healthcare software applications.
