About Our Department and University The Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing offers accredited B. S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, and Advanced Manufacturing and Applied Robotics, as well as a minor in Advanced Manufacturing. Our programs are known for their rigorous curricula, practice-oriented approach, and strong design focus. Position Summary We are collecting application materials for a pool of part-time lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2023-24 academic year. Successful candidates will be able to teach a range of courses in mechanical engineering, mechatronic engineering, or advanced manufacturing. The primary responsibility of part-time lecturers is teaching at the undergraduate level, with potential additional duties including supervision of laboratories, student advising, capstone project advising, and program outreach. Key Responsibilities Teach undergraduate courses in mechanical engineering, mechatronic engineering, or advanced manufacturing Supervise laboratories and provide hands-on instruction to students Advise students and provide guidance on academic and career paths Advise capstone projects and provide mentorship to students Participate in program outreach and promote departmental programs to prospective students Qualifications and Requirements Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and student success Proficiency in spoken and written English Expertise in at least one of the three department disciplines: mechanical engineering, mechatronic engineering, or advanced manufacturing Preferred Qualifications Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level Advanced or terminal degrees in related disciplines Industrial experience in mechanical or mechatronic engineering or advanced manufacturing Professional credentials such as a professional engineer's license and/or manufacturing-specific certifications (e.g., CMfgE or CMfgT) Bilingual candidates will be given preference What We Offer As a part-time lecturer at Chico State, you will have the opportunity to: Contribute to the success of our diverse student body and foster inclusive excellence in engineering education Work with a talented and dedicated faculty and staff who are committed to student success Gain experience teaching a range of courses in mechanical engineering, mechatronic engineering, or advanced manufacturing Develop your teaching skills and expertise through professional development opportunities Enjoy a competitive salary range ($4,530 - $13,797 per month, depending on rank and experience) Access benefits, including tuition fee waiver (if eligible) and other CSU benefits Salary and Benefits The salary range for this position is: Lecturer A/2 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $4,530 - $6,056 per month Lecturer B/3 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $5,405 - $11,994 per month Lecturer C/4 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,190 - $13,172 per month Lecturer D/5 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $7,794 - $13,797 per month Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
