About the Role: Underwriting Assistant Trainee GNY is offering an exciting entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in the insurance industry. As an Underwriting Assistant Trainee, you will play a crucial role in supporting our underwriters in the preparation and servicing of new and renewal accounts. Key Responsibilities Account Setup and Management: Set up underwriting files and applications by obtaining required documents and updating our systems. Application Review: Review applications for accuracy and completeness to ensure high-quality data. Customer Service: Provide timely and professional customer service to agents, facilitating the smooth processing of business. Risk Analysis: Conduct research and run reports for initial risk analysis, including motor vehicle reports, loss history reports, and credit checks. Policy Issuance: Rate and issue new and renewal policies and endorsements under the guidance of underwriters. Quote and Binder Preparation: Prepare quotes, binders, and policies as directed by underwriters. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with underwriters, other underwriting assistants, and internal personnel to confirm or obtain necessary data. Administrative Support: Participate in various administrative support functions as needed. Essential Qualifications and Skills To succeed in this role, you will need: Educational Background: A High School Diploma is required; some college or prior insurance experience is preferred. Learning Ability: The ability to learn through classroom participation and self-study is crucial. Exam Requirement: You must pass The Institutes' AINS 103: Exploring Commercial Insurance exam within the first 5 weeks of the training program. Interpersonal and Time Management Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage time effectively are necessary. Attention to Detail: Extreme diligence and organizational skills are required to maintain accuracy under time restraints. Communication and Mathematical Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with mathematical aptitude, are essential. Technical Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required; experience with AS/400 and/or ImageRight is a plus. Training and Career Development GNY is committed to your growth and development. The Underwriting Assistant Trainee program includes a comprehensive training period that lasts approximately four to five months. This live training program is conducted remotely and is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in your role. Upon successful completion of the training and passing the required exam, you will be considered for a permanent position within the company.
