About the Role The Pharmacy Technician II plays a vital role in our Patient Services-Pharmacy department, supporting the delivery of exceptional patient care through efficient and accurate pharmacy operations. As a Pharmacy Technician II, you will be responsible for a range of duties that require strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities. Key Responsibilities Fills and delivers medication orders/prescriptions for hospital inpatients and outpatients, ensuring timely and accurate delivery. Prepares patient medications in accordance with established protocols, methods, and techniques, including measuring, mixing, and compounding medications. Monitors, restocks, and rotates supplies, including controlled substances, and processes related patient charges and credits. Assists nursing staff in completing scheduled controlled substance inventory and performs routine quality control and equipment maintenance tasks. Provides training to new technicians in job duties, procedures, and techniques, and monitors and documents trainee performance. Maintains neatness and organization of work area, and answers, screens, and routes telephone calls as needed. Qualifications and Requirements To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician. Registration with the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician. National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT registered with PTCB). Strong analytical skills to gather and interpret data, and the ability to understand and respond to written or verbal instructions. Flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holiday coverage. Preferred qualifications include: Previous experience working in a pediatric hospital setting. Knowledge of pharmacy software and automated dispensing systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
