Organizational Overview The role of AVP, Exception & Control Reporting is part of the Collections & Recovery Analytics team, which focuses on improving Collections, Recovery, and Servicing Solutions performance. The team achieves this by building Business Intelligence (BI) solutions that support Operations Leaders, providing key performance indicators for cardholders and accounts, as well as metrics to support strategy development and execution. Role Summary and Purpose The AVP, Exception & Control Reporting will provide technical expertise to professionals leveraging complex analytics to build and manage exception reporting as part of Synchrony Bank's collections process control efforts. This key support role requires collaboration with process owners to understand processes and develop data solutions that minimize operational and process risks. The candidate will gain exposure to senior leaders across various initiatives, build functional capability and technical acumen through individual coaching and functional learning opportunities, and contribute to the development of a robust exception and control reporting framework. Key Responsibilities Manage an inventory of existing exception reports and lead efforts to build new exception reports, ensuring that all reports are accurate, reliable, and meet the requirements of process owners. Work closely with process owners to understand and document requirements for new exception and control reports, providing technical expertise and guidance on report development and implementation. Develop and manage a work intake and prioritization process for new build projects, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Provide oversight on the quality of reports, addressing issues encountered and developing new controls to improve the accuracy of reports, and ensuring that all reports are compliant with regulatory requirements. Communicate regularly with stakeholders, providing formal reporting reviews and ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the report development and implementation process. Evaluate existing processes and direct automation, simplification, enhanced visualizations, and process improvement initiatives, leveraging technology and data analytics to drive business outcomes. Provide mentoring and thought leadership on analytics best practices and procedures, sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues and contributing to the development of a culture of excellence within the team. Lead and drive projects in partnership with cross-functional teams, collaborating with stakeholders to deliver business outcomes and drive process improvements. Develop Advanced SAS and/or SQL code, visual basic macros for enhanced reporting and analytics, and create Business Intelligence solutions accessible to multiple skill levels of users via Tableau, SAS BI, and Business Objects. Work on multiple projects simultaneously, establishing priorities and coordinating work to ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Collaborate effectively across team sites to deliver on projects, managing time and resources effectively to ensure that all projects are completed to the required standards. Proactively manage efforts to maintain stakeholder satisfaction, quantifying project benefits delivered and ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle. Provide local mentoring, training, and guidance to technical staff, sharing knowledge and expertise to contribute to the development of a skilled and competent team. Influence Senior Management on new tools and solutions built by the team, providing technical expertise and guidance on the development and implementation of new technologies and solutions. Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in any discipline with 4+ years of experience in the Analytics domain, or 6+ years of experience in the Analytics domain in lieu of a degree. Minimum 4+ years of experience with advanced SQL or SAS, with the ability to code and develop complex analytics solutions. Minimum 4+ years of experience utilizing reporting tools and software for Business Intelligence, including Tableau, Business Objects, and SAS BI. Minimum 4+ years of experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Strong English written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Able to work hours that complement US time zones, with flexibility to adjust to changing business needs. Preferred Qualifications At least 5 years of experience in a Consumer Credit environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Deep experience with various Collections Regulatory Reporting, Process Controls, and Surveillance, with a strong understanding of the regulatory requirements and industry standards. Big-picture understanding of Collections and the ability to communicate with business and technical stakeholders, providing technical expertise and guidance on the development and implementation of new technologies and solutions. Experience with Automation or Artificial Intelligence tools, with the ability to leverage technology to drive business outcomes and improve process efficiency. Working knowledge of R, with the ability to develop and implement complex analytics solutions using this programming language.
