Job Overview The Principal DevOps Engineer will be a Technical Subject Matter Expert/Individual Contributor responsible for driving the organizational transformation in creating DevOps tooling, practices, and culture. You will contribute to enterprise-wide requirements and ensure adoption of the same, including visibility, scalability, availability, security, and cost performance. As a leader in DevOps strategy, you will establish and enforce DevOps best practices, including version control, code review, automated testing, and deployment techniques. Key Responsibilities Lead DevOps strategy covering design, development of tools, practices, and culture Establish and enforce DevOps best practices, including version control, code review, automated testing, and deployment techniques Design and manage infrastructure as code, using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar, to provision and manage resources across cloud environments Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar, ensuring fast and reliable application deployment Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure teams are adhering to industry best practices and regulatory requirements Monitor and analyze DevOps pipelines and practices, identifying areas for improvement, optimization, and automation to enhance launch/failback consistency and accuracy Stay up-to-date with emerging data technologies, trends, and best practices, and make recommendations for their adoption within the organization's DevOps environment Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior colleagues, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning Required Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have: Experience working in public cloud environments, GCP (preferred)/Azure/AWS, and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) Expertise in infrastructure as code concepts and tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) for automating resource provisioning and configuration Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline tools (e.g., Jenkins, CircleCI) and version control systems (e.g., Git) Strong scripting skills in languages like Python, Ruby, or similar Solid problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex DevOps platform issues and provide effective solutions Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Cloud Logging Solutions) to ensure application performance and system health Knowledge of security best practices in DevOps, including experience with vulnerability scanning, compliance frameworks, and secure deployment practices Leadership experience, including mentoring and guiding junior engineers, is a plus Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At CVS Health, we are committed to helping our employees grow and develop in their careers.
