Job Overview The Literacy and Numeracy Tutor position is a unique opportunity for a passionate and skilled educator to make a meaningful difference in the lives of elementary school students. Key Responsibilities Assist with the implementation of SRBI for both Literacy and Numeracy, focusing on Tier II interventions and progress monitoring to support student progress towards SRBI goals Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and deliver personalized learning plans that cater to the diverse needs of our students Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to students, using a range of evidence-based strategies and techniques to enhance literacy and numeracy skills Monitor student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and adjusting instruction to meet the unique needs of each student Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment Participate in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with best practices in literacy and numeracy instruction, as well as SRBI implementation Essential Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Education, Literacy, Numeracy, or a related field Proven experience working with elementary school students, preferably in a tutoring or support role Strong knowledge of literacy and numeracy curricula, as well as SRBI principles and practices Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities with ease Preferred Qualifications Current teaching certificate or license Specialized training or certification in literacy and numeracy instruction, such as Orton-Gillingham or Wilson Reading System Experience with progress monitoring and data-driven instruction Familiarity with educational technology and software, including learning management systems and instructional tools Skills and Competencies Patience and empathy: Ability to work with students who may be struggling with literacy and numeracy concepts, providing supportive and encouraging guidance Flexibility and adaptability: Willingness to adjust instruction and strategies to meet the unique needs of each student, as well as to accommodate changing circumstances and priorities Strong organizational and time management skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain accurate records and progress monitoring data Effective communication and collaboration skills: Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Seymour Public Schools, we are committed to supporting the ongoing growth and development of our staff.
