Overview: We are seeking a temporary content migration specialist to help us consolidate and reorganize technical documentation for our website, which is built and managed using Madcap Flare. This is a short-term contract role anticipated to be a few weeks of focused work. Duties & Responsibilities 1. Content Analysis & Inventory • Audit and quantify all documentation files across several existing Madcap Flare projects. • Current volume: Approximately 4,000 topic files (may be referenced in multiple locations). • Document the current file formats (Markdown, PDF, Word, HTML, etc.) and assess compatibility with Flare. 2. Documentation Consolidation • Merge multiple Flare projects into a single master Flare project. • Update and correct internal links throughout the files to reflect the new organizational structure. 3. Reformatting & Integration • Ensure documentation is properly formatted to align with website navigation, search, and custom styling requirements. • Adapt any non-Flare formats for consistency within the project. 4. Technical Implementation • Write scripts or custom code (e.g., using Flare’s APIs, macros, or batch operations) to: • Reorganize files, • Mass-edit internal links and references, • Remove duplication. • Make use of Madcap Flare’s existing features and extend with custom solutions where needed. 5. Collaboration & Reporting • Join brief weekly meetings (1–2 hours/week) with the internal team to set priorities, clarify requirements, and review work-in-progress. • Communicate proactively about challenges, dependencies, or areas needing attention. 6. Handoff & Documentation • Document process, scripts/tools developed, and provide handover materials for ongoing maintenance by internal staff. Project Details • Platform: Madcap Flare (no migration to other CMS). • Scope: One-off project; not ongoing. Expected duration is several weeks. • Collaboration: Limited — brief weekly syncs with internal team. • Primary Focus: Technical consolidation, link-fixing, and content reorganization — not design/marketing content. • Maintainer: Internal team will handle post-migration maintenance.
