About the Information Designing Group The Information Designing group at DoorDash is responsible for building data set solutions for various use cases, including reporting, product analysis, marketing optimization, and financial reporting. By implementing pipelines, data models, and data warehouse structures, this group provides the foundation for decision-making at DoorDash. As a Staff Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in scaling DoorDash's data framework, automation, and tools to meet the company's growing business needs. Job Overview We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Staff Data Engineer to join our team. As a Staff Data Engineer, you will be responsible for working with colleagues and stakeholders to understand data requirements, designing, developing, and implementing large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data models and pipelines for Data Lake and Data Warehouse. You will also build reusable frameworks that improve the reliability and flexibility of our ETLs, manage a portfolio of data products that deliver high-quality, reliable data, and mentor and coach colleagues to improve their designs and implementations. Key Responsibilities: Work with colleagues and stakeholders to understand data requirements and design, develop, and implement large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data models and pipelines for Data Lake and Data Warehouse Build reusable frameworks that improve the reliability and flexibility of our ETLs Manage a portfolio of data products that deliver high-quality, reliable data Mentor and coach colleagues to improve their designs and implementations Collaborate with engineering, product teams, and external partners to gather required data Design, develop, and implement data pipelines and architectures that meet the company's growing business needs Essential Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will need to have: 3+ years of professional experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or a similar role 3+ years of experience working with programming languages like Python/Java 3+ years of experience with ETL tools and workflow management tools like Airflow, Flink, Oozie, and Azkaban using AWS/GCP Expertise in database fundamentals, SQL, and distributed computing 3+ years of experience with distributed data/comparable ecosystem (Spark, Hive, Druid, Voila) and streaming technologies like Kafka/Flink Experience working with Snowflake, Redshift, PostgreSQL, and other DBMS platforms Knowledge of reporting tools like Tableau, Superset, and Looker Excellent communication skills and experience working with technical and non-technical teams Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, self-starter, and self-organizing Capacity to think strategically, analyze, and interpret market and consumer data Preferred Qualifications: While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience working with cloud-based data platforms like AWS or GCP Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems like Git Strong understanding of data security and compliance principles Skills and Competencies: To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong technical skills in data engineering, data modeling, and data architecture Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Strong collaboration and teamwork skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits: At DoorDash, we are committed to supporting the growth and development of our employees.
