About the Role: Data Scientist We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join our Information, Analysis, Insights, and Business Operations team. As a Data Scientist, you will play a critical role in helping Starbucks make informed decisions by leveraging data and analysis. You will work collaboratively with data engineers, business analysts, and external vendors to drive business outcomes. Your expertise in predictive modeling, automating ETL processes, and designing and building analytical models using structured or unstructured data will be essential in this role. Key Responsibilities: Extract data from various databases; perform exploratory data analysis, cleanse, massage, and aggregate data to support business insights. Determine the analytical approach to solve business problems; integrate machine learning algorithms where appropriate. Apply scaling and automation to data preparation processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Translate model results into actionable insights that are easily consumable by end-users through visualization, clear tables, and compelling presentations. Support both technical and non-technical end-users in understanding how to use and interpret the analysis to drive business decisions. Essential Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you should have: A Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Quantitative Sociology, or a similar field. A minimum of 2+ years of industry experience in data science, with a strong background in predictive and statistical modeling, machine learning, and a solid skill set in all phases of the modeling pipeline. Experience in building complex datasets from multiple data sources, both internally and externally, with strong SQL, database, and ETL skills, including data cleaning and management. Advanced proficiency and expertise in Python, R, or other platforms, with the ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities. The capacity to educate others on statistical/machine learning techniques and to communicate complex ideas effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A self-starter mentality, with attention to detail, results-oriented, and the ability to work under minimal direction. Preferred Qualifications: While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience working on Cloud platforms like Azure, AWS. Knowledge of additional programming languages or data analysis tools. Certifications in data science or related fields.
