As a Tax Manager in Sales Tax, you will play a critical role in supporting our mission by ensuring the accuracy of sales tax and fees collected on sales to customers, as well as purchases made by our company. Key Responsibilities As a Tax Manager in Sales Tax, your key responsibilities will include: Conducting taxability research and analysis of our operations, with a particular focus on the indirect tax impacts of our marketplace platform Leveraging your curiosity and passion for indirect tax to ensure the accuracy of sales tax and fees collected on sales to customers and purchases made by our company Researching state and local laws to determine item taxability and identifying changes to our tax codes Utilizing various tools to assign the proper tax code to items and creating documentation to sustain our tax positions Supporting the Sales Tax team in audit and compliance matters and teaming with internal and external partners to gather data and verify research Fostering your personal development by remaining current with tax law changes, industry trends, emerging risks, and gaining unique experiences to support a meaningful career Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a Master's degree in Taxation or a Juris Doctor degree being a plus A minimum of 2 years of indirect tax experience at a public accounting firm or commensurate experience in a large corporate environment, with retail experience being preferred Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to think critically and identify data patterns and issues Accountability and ownership of your work, with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results Experience with tax software and systems, such as CCH, RIA, and/or Avalara, and data analytical tools, including Excel, Alteryx, and data visualization tools Preferred Qualifications In addition to the essential qualifications, we are looking for candidates who have: Experience with Vertex and SAP, or similar tax software and general ledger systems A strong understanding of sales tax laws and regulations, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical and effective way Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and identify creative solutions A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a range of skills and competencies, including: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise way A strong attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering high-quality results and a focus on continuous improvement The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a strong sense of adaptability and flexibility A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, with a focus on staying up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in tax law and regulation Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At workwarp, we are committed to supporting the career growth and development of our employees.
