About the Role We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join our Information Science and Computerization Group, focusing on the development of data-driven solutions for proactive maintenance and efficiency. As an Information Researcher, you will play a critical role in driving business value through the application of data science, AI, machine learning, and data analysis techniques. Key Responsibilities Drive moderate to complex data science, AI, machine learning, or development projects, working with partners to understand logical issues rapidly and define, analyze, and deliver solutions based on business objectives. Apply math, statistics, and modeling techniques to develop solutions that can be used in descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analysis. Ensure the continuous viability of models being used by partners. Drive the definition and communication of solutions for data analysis and modeling. Contribute to the continuous improvement of analytical intelligence by collaborating with and adding to the Southwest Airlines data science community. May perform other work duties as directed by Representative's Chiefs. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications: Moderate knowledge of statistics and math concepts. Middle knowledge of descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive statistical strategies and their differences. Middle knowledge of the data science project life cycle, including engaging partners to define the issue, solution definition, project planning, and executing per plan. Knowledge, at a high level, of how technology platforms and architectures are relevant to data science. Ability to collect, clean, transform, analyze, and visualize large-scale data. Ability to work with statistical and programming languages. Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, up to and including leaders, with support from more experienced data researchers. Ability to assess which data science, AI, machine learning, or development strategies and techniques are suitable for a business issue and make recommendations for solutions. Ability to collaborate with vendors and assess their foundation, solutions, or methods. Ability to adapt to different circumstances and take on new approaches and procedures if necessary to meet business goals effectively. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications would be highly desirable: Advanced degree in a quantitative field, such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, or engineering. Experience working with large datasets and developing data-driven solutions. Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and techniques. Experience with data visualization tools and techniques. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
