About the Role: Maintenance Worker/Porter II at Castle Hill YMCA The Castle Hill YMCA, part of the YMCA of Greater New York family, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Worker/Porter II to join its team. This full-time role is crucial to maintaining the cleanliness, upkeep, and overall appearance of our facility. As a Maintenance Worker/Porter II, you will be responsible for a wide range of duties, from cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas to performing various maintenance tasks and ensuring the security of our building and property. Key Responsibilities: Cleaning and Maintenance: Ensure the Castle Hill YMCA is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule, including mopping, dusting, trash removal, and recycling. Equipment Operation: Operate related motorized and non-motorized equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and floor polishers. Repairs and Reporting: Record and report all needed repairs, and perform repairs as directed by supervisors. Security and Safety: Ensure the building and property are secure during your shift, and report any incidents or hazardous conditions to your supervisor. Supply Management: Replace soap, paper towels, and other supplies as needed. Event Support: Set up furniture and/or rooms for events, and assist with other related tasks. Specialized Cleaning: Strip and wax floors, and shampoo rugs as needed. Compliance: Follow standards set by the Department of Health, Department of Buildings, Fire Department of New York, and other relevant agencies. YMCA Policies: Adhere to YMCA Housekeeping Policies and Procedures. Essential Qualifications and Skills: To succeed in this role, you will need: Education: A High School diploma or equivalent. Experience: One (1) to three (3) years of related experience in maintenance, janitorial, or a similar field, with increasing responsibility. Knowledge: Familiarity with cleaning methods, equipment, and chemicals, as well as basic understanding of equipment upkeep and care. Certification: Obtain YMCA Housekeeping Certificate within 1 year of attaining the position. Preferred Qualifications: While not required, the following qualifications are highly valued: Previous Experience in a YMCA or Similar Environment: Experience working in a community-focused organization or a similar setting. Leadership or Supervisory Experience: Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role, demonstrating your ability to guide and motivate others.
