You will lead cross-functional teams to identify, assess, and mitigate risks, and develop and implement control frameworks to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and Amex policies. **Key Responsibilities** * Lead the development and implementation of operational risk management strategies and control frameworks * Collaborate with business units to identify and assess operational risks, and develop mitigation plans * Develop and maintain control frameworks to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and Amex policies * Lead cross-functional teams to implement control enhancements and remediation plans * Analyze data and identify trends to inform risk management decisions * Communicate risk management information to senior leadership and stakeholders * Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and industry partners **Essential Qualifications** * 3+ years of experience in operational risk management, with a strong understanding of critical operational risk management lifecycle activities * Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills * Experience in process governance, with an understanding of processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards * Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively **Preferred Qualifications** * Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or related field; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc) or certifications are advantageous * Experience in at least one of the following: + Translating operational risk strategy and appetite into execution guidelines + Tracking and identifying issues with Key Risk Indicator (KRI) limits and risk appetite to ensure operational risks are managed within agreed thresholds + Oversee the implementation of the operational risk governance frameworks + Communicating and ensuring understanding and adherence to operational risk procedures and standards + Facilitating the operational risk exam management processes * Experience in the financial services industry **Skills and Competencies** * Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex risk management information to senior leadership and stakeholders * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively * Proficient in risk management frameworks and control methodologies * Experience with regulatory requirements and industry standards **Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits** At American Express, we are committed to helping our colleagues grow and develop their careers.
