About the Data Platform Team The Data Platform team is the backbone of Netflix's data-driven decision-making process. We're responsible for building and maintaining the data infrastructure that enables our various business functions to make informed decisions. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain large-scale distributed systems that can handle the demands of Netflix's global streaming service Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements, ensuring that our data platform meets the needs of our stakeholders Develop and implement scalable, fault-tolerant, and highly available distributed systems that can handle the complexities of our data pipeline Work closely with our open-source communities to shape the direction of our projects and contribute to the development of new technologies Participate in code reviews, ensuring that our codebase is maintainable, efficient, and follows best practices Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, working closely with our engineering teams to identify and fix problems Essential Qualifications 2+ years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems, with a strong background in software engineering and computer science Proficiency in Java or other object-oriented programming languages, with a strong understanding of multi-threading and concurrency Experience with designing and developing RESTful web services, with a strong understanding of API design principles Strong knowledge of distributed systems, including scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a strong academic record Preferred Qualifications Experience with cloud-native technologies, including AWS or Google Cloud Knowledge of data processing frameworks, such as Apache Spark or Apache Flink Familiarity with containerization technologies, such as Docker or Kubernetes Experience with agile development methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban Strong understanding of data modeling and data governance principles Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you'll need to possess a unique combination of technical, business, and interpersonal skills.
