About the Role As a Custom Circuits Design Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of designing advanced ASICs (Application-Specific Integrated Circuits) that power Apple's cutting-edge products. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative custom digital megacells, including SRAM memories, on-chip sensors, and ML accelerators. Your expertise will be crucial in shaping the future of Apple's products and delivering unparalleled user experiences. Key Responsibilities Foster custom circuits to improve chip power efficiency and performance Collaborate with power teams, PD, and designers to define specifications and requirements Perform design, analysis, modeling/simulation, circuit-level specifications, schematic capture, spice simulation/layout verification across PVT, statistical design, functional verification, and silicon bring-up Work closely with the layout team to complete the design and ensure high-quality layout Create and drive circuit methodologies to achieve the highest design quality metrics Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering) At least 3 years of industry experience in custom circuit design, preferably in advanced technology nodes Experience in designing low-voltage/low-power custom circuits Strong understanding of deep submicron device physics, leakage mechanisms, and technology interactions with device behavior Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) and CAD automation tools Knowledge of industry-standard circuit and design tools Preferred Qualifications To stand out, you'll ideally have: Experience in one or more of the following areas: AI accelerators, SRAM circuits, non-volatile memories, weak/inverse logic circuits, ultra-low power amplifiers, DC/DC converters, advanced on-chip sensors, high-speed timing, time-to-digital converters (TDCs) Strong understanding of device matching, device noise sources (1/f, thermal), external noise sources (supply, jitter), and their impact on high-precision circuits Ability to conduct experiments during silicon debug, manufacturing, and analyzing data; and use scripting to support efficient treatment of ATE data Familiarity with mixed-signal verification and behavioral models for mixed-signal blocks What We Offer At Apple, we're committed to creating a work environment that's inclusive, diverse, and supportive.
