About the Role: Financial Analyst - Planning and Analysis - Canada The Worldwide Vendor and Organization Services (GM&NS) Pricing team is responsible for the single largest source of American Express' revenue: Merchant Discount Revenue. The team works closely with numerous colleagues to determine the optimal pricing to enable merchant acceptance of American Express while striving to improve coverage and merchant satisfaction. As a Financial Analyst of Planning and Analysis - Canada, you will play a critical role in driving GMS revenue and profit growth through client-driven pricing principles, more flexible pricing architecture, and innovative pricing solutions. Key Responsibilities: Create a Canada figure for merchant discount revenue, tracking month-to-month performance against forecast and identifying drivers of change. Develop vendor discount revenue scorecards for the Canada region. Drive normalization and process improvement among the various local pricing groups for all reporting and forecasting-related activities. Support external reviews, including investigating issues found, reaching out to the regional pricing groups that manage the merchant relationships to discuss issues, and managing resolutions. Perform ad-hoc data analysis to assess discount rate trends and uncover insights. Requirements and Qualifications: Essential Qualifications: 2+ years of experience in financial services or payments industry, and/or other financial roles. Four-year college education required; strongly preferred in finance/accounting/business. High proficiency with Excel is required. Strong attention to detail and organization. Strong analytical skills; demonstrated ability to develop complex financial models and draw value-added insights from large amounts of financial data. Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., SAS/SQL) is required. Excellent communication skills - both written and oral. A strong relationship management and collaboration skills with the ability to influence others in situations where there may be competing objectives. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in financial planning and analysis, or a related field. Familiarity with financial data analysis and reporting tools. Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment. Strong project management skills with full ownership from analysis through to execution. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple requests and prioritize as needed.
