Job DescriptionResponsibilitiesRecruit and manage a team of data engineers working on multiple simultaneous projects with a focus on data preparation and pipeline development for ML predictive modelingProvide strategic guidance and mentorship around the following topics:Data interrogation, exploratory data analysis, profiling, and reconciliationData pipeline creation, revision and monitoring based on product manager and data scientist/actuarial inputFeature creation, initial testing, and ongoing managementData security and governanceWork collaboratively with other staff including product managers, data scientists, data analysts, architects to solve problems, develop innovative approaches, and provide project statusCreate and manage data assets, datasets, features, and code with a focus on simplicity, scalability, reusability, and clear documentation Demonstrated success at developing teams and achieving large productivity gainsAdditional work assignments not related to specific project work such as new feature development, external data research, providing user feedback on new products and tools under developmentQualificationsBachelors or Masters degree or equivalent industry experiencePassion for solving complex data engineering problems10+ years of relevant data engineering experience5+ years of relevant management experience, including recruiting and developing a new team of data engineersAdvanced, hands on experience building ML data pipelines, modeling datasets and features for predictive modelingExpert SQL skills, including advanced functions, table design, view creation, stored procedure and script design and coding, general performance tuningExpert data profiling and analysis skills including statistical analysisIn-depth knowledge of Python for data processing ( Pyspark, Polars, Pandas)Deep experience with DBT and AWS data capabilities like Airflow, Glue, Athena, Redshift, EMRExperience with developing and automating data quality monitoring Experience in a regulated industry required; experience withUS/Canadian P&C standard lines of business a bonusAbility to plan and carry out projects with minimal directionSelf-motivated and detail-oriented with desire to solve problems#dataengineering #predictive #propertyandcasualty #managementThe US base salary range for this full-time position is $169,000 - $290,000 . Your base pay will depend on your experience, skills, education, training, and location among other factors. All full-time positions or part-time roles working 30 hours or more a week at Guidewire are eligible for benefits that support their health and well-being including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a company sponsored retirement plan. In addition, some roles may be eligible for the annual company bonus plan, commissions, and/or long term incentive awards which are contingent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, company and employee performance.
