Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Full-Time Remote Collections Representative to join our team. As a Collections Representative, you will be responsible for performing collecting, reconciliation, research, correspondence, and independent problem-solving activities. You will work with our Patient Financial Services (PFS) department to ensure accurate and timely processing of payments, adjustments, claims, and correspondence. This is a full-time remote position, requiring flexibility to work our normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm EST, with occasional overtime as needed. Key Responsibilities Perform collecting, reconciliation, research, correspondence, and independent problem-solving activities to resolve complex, multi-payment accounts. Reconcile accounts on a daily basis to determine underpayment, overpayment, or contractual adjustment corrections. Submit appeal letters on underpaid claims as directed and interpret payer contracts to determine if payment and adjustment are accurate. Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) for denials and post corrected adjustments to balance accounts. Identify needs for process improvements and create/enhance processes in the PFS department. Promote positive teamwork within the department and among employees. Work with all hospital departments to ensure proper coding and billing procedures. Follow all departmental, hospital, and regulatory policies and procedures, including HIPAA requirements. Utilize top customer service skills with all customers, including patients, government agencies, and commercial insurances. Reconcile, balance, and pursue account balances and payments, working with payor remits, facility contracts, payor customer service, provider representatives, spreadsheets, and company collection/self-pay policies. Make appeals and corrections as necessary and build strong working relationships with assigned business units, hospital departments, or provider offices. Identify trends in payment issues and communicate with internal and external customers to educate and correct problems. Provide assistance to internal clients and respond to incoming calls and make outbound calls as required to resolve billing, payment, and accounting issues. Requirements and Qualifications Essential Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required. Must be 18 years of age or older. 1 year of experience in healthcare billing and/or collections. Experience with follow-up on Arizona Medicaid claims and commercial follow-up claims. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook. Ability to work our normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm EST, with occasional overtime as needed. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working in a remote or telecommuting environment. Familiarity with patient financial services and healthcare operations. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
