Writer/Reporteer

Overview We are seeking a talented and versatile Writer/Reporter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of language and an ability to adapt their writing style to various formats and audiences. Duties • Create compelling written articles of local events and activities as well as local government meetings and functions. • Conduct thorough research to ensure accuracy and depth in all writing assignments. • Proofread and copy edit all materials for clarity, grammar, punctuation, and adherence to AP style or the Chicago Manual of Style as required. • Collaborate with team members to develop content strategies that align with project objectives. • Fact-check information to maintain credibility and reliability in all published works. • Engage in creative writing projects (occasionally) that captivate audiences. • Maintain organized documentation of all written materials for easy reference. Experience • Proven experience in writing across various formats including journalism, copywriting, proposal writing, and technical writing. • Strong proofreading and editing skills with a keen eye for detail. • Excellent communication skills that facilitate collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders. • Familiarity with AP style guidelines as well as the Chicago Manual of Style is preferred. • Proficiency in word processing software and other relevant tools for efficient content creation. • A background in research methodologies to support fact-checking efforts is essential. • Demonstrated ability in creative writing that showcases originality and innovation.
