Job Summary The Overnight Direct Care Staff is responsible for ensuring the well-being and safety of our residents in a 24-hour care setting. This role requires a unique blend of compassion, patience, and professionalism, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. As a Direct Care Staff, you will be responsible for providing direct care and support to our residents, as well as contributing to a positive and inclusive team culture. Key Responsibilities Ensure the safety and well-being of residents at all times, adhering to YMCA, DCF, and DEEC policies and procedures. Monitor residents during daily activities, including meals, recreation, and sleep periods, to ensure compliance with program rules and regulations. Plan and implement activities that promote socialization, education, and personal growth, such as games, discussions, and outings. Conduct thorough intake and discharge procedures, including paperwork and storage of resident belongings and valuables. Complete all required paperwork and documentation, including log entries, incident reports, and clinical reports. Prevent crisis situations from escalating and intervene in a calm and professional manner, utilizing Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Skills as needed. Attend and participate in all required program meetings and professional trainings. Maintain required certifications, including MAP certification within six months of start date (dependent on DCF program). Accept advocacy responsibilities, including coaching, mentoring, and supporting assigned residents. Report any suspected child abuse to the Supervisor on duty or DCF. Supervise, prepare, and assist with meal preparation and laundry chores. Be punctual in attendance and follow program policies and procedures. Work as part of a team with co-workers to achieve program goals and objectives. Follow dress code policy and maintain a professional appearance at all times. Complete resident monthly reports competently and on time. Assume PIC (Person in Charge) responsibilities as assigned. Ensure emergency procedures are posted and followed by all staff. Complete supply inventories upon request. Provide professional and courteous telephone service to all contacts. Requirements To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements: Be at least 21 years old. Have a high school education or equivalent. Have basic computer knowledge and be able to read and write cohesively for incident reporting. Complete yearly DEEC and OCY training programs. Preferred Qualifications We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualities and qualifications: Experience working with youth, preferably in a residential or group home setting. Knowledge of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and MAP certification. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, staff, and external partners. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. Flexibility and willingness to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
