Job Summary We're seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Pharmacist to join our Prior Authorization team. As a Clinical Pharmacist with CVS Health, you'll have the opportunity to take your skills to the next level and make a meaningful impact on patient care. This is a remote role, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States. Key Responsibilities Prior Authorization Reviews: Evaluate and review prior authorization requests, rendering coverage determinations based on clinical criteria and plan design. This includes verifying insurance coverage and eligibility, interpreting clinical guideline criteria, consulting physicians and other healthcare providers, and utilizing clinical knowledge and resources while complying with department protocols. Communication and Collaboration: Collaborate with technicians and prior authorization team members to process referrals, answer clinical questions, and collect clinical/medical data needed to perform clinical assessments and reviews. You'll also handle inbound and outbound phone calls with technicians, prior authorization team members, physicians, healthcare providers, and patients to facilitate prior authorization requests, answer inquiries, and resolve escalations. Professional Development: Maintain professional and technical knowledge of drug and disease states for Specialty and Non-Specialty Pharmacy programs. You'll also attend training sessions and development meetings, and provide on-call and after-hours pharmacist availability as needed. Clinical Decision-Making: Make timely and accurate clinical decisions, ensuring that patients receive the necessary care and treatment. You'll work independently, utilizing your clinical expertise and judgment to make informed decisions. Requirements and Qualifications Essential Qualifications: Pharmacy Experience: 2 years of experience working as a pharmacist in a PBM setting, including prior authorization experience in a PBM environment. Clinical Resources: Demonstrated experience using clinical resources, such as Micromedex, Lexicomp, and Clinical Pharmacology. Organizational and Communication Skills: Excellent organizational skills, strong detail orientation, and excellent oral and written communication skills. Technical Skills: Strong Microsoft Office skills, experience using MS Office and other Windows-based computer applications. Licensure: Active pharmacist license in good standing in the state of residence. Preferred Qualifications: Post-Graduate Training: PGY1/PGY2 experience. Prior Authorization and Clinical Experience: Prior authorization, call center, and clinical experience. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Exposure to clinical and analytical problem-solving. Consultation and Collaboration: Ability to consult with pharmacy technicians and/or physicians regarding medication use and advise on appropriate formulary alternatives. Education Bachelor's of Science - Pharmacy or Pharm. D.
