Job Title: Medical Transcriptionist Pay Rate: $28.00/hour Duration: 3-month contract with potential for extension Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM start time, 8-hour shifts (40 hours/week) with a 30-minute unpaid lunch Training Schedule: Initial training will begin at 11:00 AM for 8 hours/day until ramp-up is complete Job Summary: On behalf of our client, a leading hospital system in Los Angeles, CA, we are seeking an experienced Medical Transcriptionist to support our pathology department by transcribing and preparing final pathology reports in collaboration with pathologists, laboratory staff, and office personnel. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transcription—preferably within pathology—and demonstrate high accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail. Key Responsibilities: • Accurately transcribe dictations into pathology reports using Winscribe Dictation and input data into CERNER. • Format surgical pathology reports based on requisition forms, gross descriptions provided by Pathologist Assistants, and dictated diagnoses from Pathologists. • Review each case to ensure proper documentation, including follow-ups with Pathologists for any missing or additional information. • Manage the documentation, results, and distribution of consultation reports and specialized tests. • Utilize strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to proofread and ensure the accuracy of medical dictations. • Maintain the confidentiality of patient records and sensitive information. • Perform additional laboratory or administrative support duties as required. Required Qualifications: • Minimum of 5 years of medical transcription experience, preferably within a Pathology setting. • Proficient in Winscribe Dictation and CERNER systems. • Strong understanding of medical terminology, particularly related to anatomy and pathology. • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing client-ready documentation. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. • Strong organizational and time management skills.
