Core Responsibilities As a Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist, your primary focus will be on reviewing and analyzing clinical documentation to identify areas for improvement, ensuring that documentation meets regulatory requirements, and providing feedback to healthcare providers to enhance the quality and accuracy of patient records. Key responsibilities include: Conducting thorough reviews of clinical documentation to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement Collaborating with healthcare providers to clarify and correct documentation errors or omissions Developing and implementing strategies to improve documentation quality, completeness, and compliance Staying up-to-date with regulatory requirements, coding guidelines, and industry best practices Providing education and training to healthcare providers on documentation best practices and regulatory requirements Working closely with the coding team to ensure accurate and compliant coding practices Utilizing electronic health record systems, such as EPIC and 3M 360 Encompass, to review and analyze clinical documentation Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications: RN or MD certification from a US School Minimum 5 years of experience as a Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist, with some or all of that experience in an Academic Medical Center Strong clinical knowledge and understanding of pathophysiology Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively articulate and discuss medical diagnostic topics Familiarity with coding principles and guidelines, as they relate to clinical documentation Recent experience working with EPIC and 3M 360 Encompass software environments Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following preferred qualifications will make your application more competitive: Consistent job history in Clinical Documentation Improvement, with contractor experience Solid clinical/medical foundation, preferably with acute floor staff nursing experience Recent experience using 3M CAC 360 and EPIC Extensive coding, regulatory, and compliance knowledge Strong technical and critical thinking abilities Ability to clearly and fluently articulate and discuss pathophysiology Recent or current experience working in an Academic Medical Center Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you must possess the following skills and competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify areas for improvement and develop effective solutions Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with healthcare providers and other stakeholders Strong technical skills, with the ability to navigate electronic health record systems and utilize software applications Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on quality and attention to detail Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to make sound judgments and recommendations Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Workwarp and Ampcus Inc., we are committed to supporting the growth and development of our team members.
