Summary As Services Director, you will lead the strategic development, delivery, and continuous improvement of TBYM's services. You’ll oversee service creation (whether independently or with a team), champion quality standards, and ensure our offerings meet the diverse needs of the people we support. You’ll also direct our internal training arm—TBYM Academy—alongside Academy Development Volunteers for a high-quality training experience for all volunteers. This is a senior volunteer leadership role ideal for someone with a background in service design, strategic planning, or operations. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Service Development Lead the development of new and existing services in alignment with organisational priorities and user needs. Collaborate with Service Development Volunteers to research, plan, pilot, and evaluate new initiatives. Identify gaps in service provision and recommend responsive solutions. 2. Oversight of Service Delivery & Improvement Monitor service delivery performance, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and high-quality experiences for service users. Work closely with Service Managers and Team Leaders to address challenges, improve service flow, and embed feedback into practice. Ensure safeguarding, data protection, and ethical practice standards are upheld. 3. Service Leadership Oversee TBYMUK's Services, and Academy, ensuring its training programmes are relevant, and effective. Support Academy Development Volunteers to design, deliver, and maintain induction and CPD resources for all roles in the department. Promote and maintain a culture of learning. Recruit a Service Manager to lead and support team leaders and mental health professionals. 4. Volunteer Collaboration & Support Encourage cross-team collaboration across services and training functions. Support onboarding and mentorship of Service Managers and Academy volunteers when needed. Attend strategy meetings and provide leadership updates on services and training. Essential Skills and Qualities Leadership Experience: An ability to manage projects, teams, or services. Strategic Thinking: Ability to plan long-term, make data-informed decisions, and prioritise effectively. Excellent Communication: Strong verbal and written skills; able to adapt messaging for different people. Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using collaborative tools, digital platforms, and service management systems. Passion for Mental Health: Genuine interest in improving mental health access and support.
