Join American Express as an Industrial Engineering Summer Intern to lead projects improving customer experience and operational efficiency in a hybrid work setting. Your Role Key responsibilities include: • Leading and supporting efforts to collect data, analyze insights, and develop proposals and recommendations for senior leadership. • Deploying improvements to systems and processes across multiple business groups. • Collaborating with Technologies, Finance, Risk, Operations, Marketing, Brand, external vendors, and others. • Applying statistical manufacturing tools and consulting techniques in the finance industry. • Working as part of a large engineering team including Industrial Engineers, Analysts, and Project Managers to improve business processes and drive optimization. • Gaining exposure to diverse career growth opportunities within the service center. About You The company is looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications: • Currently enrolled full-time in a Bachelor’s degree program with expected graduation between December 2026 and June 2027. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Understanding of continuous process improvement and problem-solving methodologies. • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work independently or in teams. • Results-driven with ability to own projects end-to-end. • Experience driving project implementation with diverse customer groups. • Knowledge and exposure to common Industrial Engineering software such as Excel and SQL. • Familiarity with multiple IE topics including continuous improvement, problem solving, cost benefit analysis, Six Sigma, lean, project management, statistics, operations research, forecasting, quality control, work/motion study, design of experiments, process or value stream mapping. • Preferred fields of study include Industrial, Manufacturing, Systems, or Operations Engineering; Informatics; Information Technology/Systems; Supply Chain Management; or Engineering Management.
