Position Summary SIR is seeking a driven and hardworking individual to join our publications team in the development of SIR's Fall and Winter issues of IR Quarterly. As a Publications Intern, you will work under the guidance of SIR's Editorial Manager and Director of Publications to gain experience producing and publishing a quarterly magazine from start to finish. This internship offers a unique opportunity to build your writing and editing portfolio, develop your content creation skills, and contribute to the publication of a leading medical society magazine. Key Responsibilities As a Publications Intern, you will be responsible for: Soliciting and managing content submissions from experts in the field of interventional radiology Basic editing of material in the publications, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency Content development, including interviewing, writing, or transcribing as needed to create engaging and informative articles Posting articles to the website and developing social media content to promote SIR's publications and engage with our audience Proofing emails such as Guidewire or SIR Scan to ensure accuracy and attention to detail Ad hoc duties as needed to support the publications team and ensure the smooth production of SIR's publications Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Basic copyediting skills, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling Strong writing skills, with the ability to create engaging and informative content Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with editors, writers, and other stakeholders Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications would be beneficial: Experience in a publications or editorial role, either in a professional or academic setting Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and social media platforms Knowledge of medical terminology and the field of interventional radiology Education and Training We are seeking a candidate who is currently enrolled in an English, Communications, or Journalism program at an accredited college. A strong academic record and a passion for writing, editing, and content creation are essential. Compensation and Benefits This is a paid, fully remote internship with flexible hours.
