Job Overview We are hiring a Student Assistant to support the Resources, Planning, and Management section of the CDPH Tuberculosis Control Branch. This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited position that offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in public health and make a meaningful contribution to the control and prevention of TB in California. As a Student Assistant, you will play a key role in assisting with the development and improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and workflows for various operational processes. Key Responsibilities Research and analyze existing procedures and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement and standardization Draft clear, concise, and accurate Standard Office Procedures (SOPs) using established templates and guidelines Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and completeness of SOPs Map out current workflows to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies Design and implement improved workflows to streamline processes and enhance efficiency Develop visual representations of workflows, such as flowcharts or diagrams Organize and maintain a centralized repository of SOPs and workflows Ensure that all documents are up-to-date and easily accessible Requirements and Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements: Currently enrolled in a relevant academic program, such as public health, health administration, or a related field Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong attention to detail and accuracy Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with documenting operational processes Familiarity with Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint Interest in public health Individuals who are, or have been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth or a formerly incarcerated youth as defined by Government Code section 18220 are encouraged to apply and will be given priority Career Growth and Learning Opportunities As a Student Assistant with the CDPH Tuberculosis Control Branch, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience and skills in public health, including: Developing and improving SOPs and workflows Collaborating with subject matter experts Analyzing and improving operational processes Developing visual representations of workflows Organizing and maintaining a centralized repository of SOPs and workflows Work Environment and Company Culture The CDPH Tuberculosis Control Branch is a dynamic and supportive work environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
