Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Environment Look Development Artist to join our team at our Vancouver, BC studio. As an Environment Look Development Artist, you will be responsible for creating the materials, surfaces, and geometric models that define the look of our environments, sets, and props. Key Responsibilities Work closely with asset managers and production designers to develop the look of the environments in our animated films Create materials, surfaces, procedural instancing, and natural vegetation Bring assets to a technically proficient and artistically pleasing final finish Collaborate with other artists and technicians to ensure consistency and quality in the final product Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments in environment look development Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer animation, fine arts, or related field 3+ years of professional experience in Environment Look Development Ability to understand, interpret, and implement highly detailed art direction Solid technical skills towards achieving a directorable aesthetic Ability to work closely with others in a collaborative environment Knowledge of materials and procedural modeling Proficiency in texturing and digital painting Experience with physically based rendering Maya experience Linux experience Preferred Qualifications Character Look Development experience is a plus Shader-writing and scripting experience is an asset Understanding of the production pipeline Experience working with a variety of software and tools, including but not limited to Maya, Houdini, and Nuke Skill and Competency Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a combination of artistic, technical, and collaborative skills. You should be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of environment look development principles, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are also essential.
