A Brief OverviewThe Senior Analyst, Data Scientist works with business stakeholders to answer complex questions and make business predictions by performing complex data and statistical techniques. The Senior Analyst will perform predictive and prescriptive analytics, create complex models, automate processes, and leverage existing and new tools to optimize and analyze data. This position requires advanced skills in statistics, object-oriented programming, machine learning and data automation processes. What you will doPerform data and complex statistical analysis to guide interest rate risk analysis, relevant business decisions, and corresponding strategiesCreate complex models and lead validation of existing modelsLead the development of machine learning and automation processesGather, clean, and process raw dataCollaborate with stakeholders to identify interest rate risk strategies and test effectivenessCreate and validate various reports, dashboards, models and visualizationsAnalyze and interpret data for trends and patterns, and make recommendations to business areaPrepare and present various reports, presentations and other deliverables to management and senior leadershipMentor and trains junior data employeesLead data quality assurance programs and keeps up to date on regulation changesLead regular audits of data, reports, models and other measures to ensure integrity and compliancePerform other duties and projects as assignedUnderstand and comply with all provisions of the Safety in the Workplace policyPreferred RequirementsAdvanced degree or 5-years of direct working experience in advanced financial modelingUnderstanding of financial derivatives and commercial interest rate risk conceptsMinimum RequirementsTypically requires a bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of 5 years of related experience. A combination of post-high school education, job related certification and related experience equivalent to 7 years may be considered in lieu of minimum requirementsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAdvanced knowledge of statistics and predictive modelingAdvanced skills in problem solving and analytical thinkingAdvanced skills in MySQL, Python, SAS, Spark, BigBML R, Java, and other commonly used data scientist toolsAdvanced object-oriented programming skillsAdvanced knowledge of machine learning, algorithms and data automationExcellent interpersonal and leadership skills and ability to prioritize workAbility to communicate with both technical and non-technical usersWorking Conditions and Physical RequirementsFrequently remains stationary throughout a typical business dayFrequently operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printerOccasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and other roomsOccasionally positions self to access drawers and shelves of various heightsFrequently reaches for and handles paperwork and filesConstantly communicates with customers, coworkers, and management in-person and on the phoneMust be able to exchange accurate informationFirstBank does not currently offer fully remote positions, except as required by law.
