Job Highlights and Overview This is a full-time remote position with immediate openings available. As an Assistant Scientist, Product Development, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for executing new product development initiatives designed to create a robust pipeline of sparkling beverage innovations. Your role will involve conducting fundamental or applied research to improve or generate new products, components, equipment, and more. You will also be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting lab equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of our research and development activities. Key Responsibilities Development of lab-scale prototypes, producing pilot plans for both beverage-based parts and final products, and preparing beverages for analytical tests on taste and/or odor according to sensory guidelines. Designing, producing, and evaluating product prototypes/samples against technical requirements, fit to concept, or performance specifications through lab testing. Designing, developing, conducting, and reviewing experiments to deliver new products, evaluating ingredient, product, or packaging safety, efficacy, or claims, and assessing new ingredients, materials, products, or processes. Writing detailed and accurate reports for analyses, experiments, or projects, gathering and organizing information under tight timelines to support senior management's decision-making. Participating in team projects, interdepartmental/divisional committees, or company-wide initiatives to share information, represent the department/division perspective, or assist with product development, process modification, package development, and marketing. Working on product development projects assigned by the line manager from idea generation to formula finalization through close discussion and alignment with the Technical and Marketing team and all other stakeholders. Creating and properly evaluating flavor emulsions for Core Sparkling Flavor products and participating in commercialization scale tests at the manufacturing line with the QA and commercialization team if needed. Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). 2-3 years of successful experience in product development, with a focus on flavor chemistry and beverage manufacturing. Basic knowledge of the organic chemistry of essential oils and other flavor compounds relevant to our products, along with basic emulsions knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to produce shelf-stable products. Previous experience with flavor emulsion creation, production, and evaluation is a plus. Moderate knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). The ability to recognize and protect proprietary information related to formulas and ingredients. Knowledge of project management principles and the ability to apply these principles, tools, and techniques to develop, plan, manage, or execute projects or work plans to ensure successful completion. Preferred Qualifications and Skills In addition to the essential qualifications, the following skills and experience are preferred: Advanced degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in product development, with a focus on flavor chemistry and beverage manufacturing. Expertise in regulatory and food law, as well as experience with building technical relationships and project management. Proficiency in laboratory practices, including maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment. Experience with sensory evaluation and flavor profiling.
