Job Overview The Quality Specialist, General Assembly will be an integral part of Tesla's Quality organization. The primary objective of this role is to support the development of high-quality electric vehicles through the continuous improvement of process and product quality and the systems that surround them. The successful candidate for this position should be a problem solver at their core, have strong analytical and customer-centric skills, and possess the personal drive and resilience for determined, continuous improvement (personally and professionally). Key Responsibilities Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams to drive process and product improvements; utilize QA methodologies to manage and facilitate issue resolution, including root cause analyses and the development, implementation, and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actions. Establish and maintain quality performance metrics. Lead the Suspension team for Quality Association. Perform technical root cause analysis of vehicle systems (full vehicle: interior, exterior, chassis, HV/LV, FW, Diag, Thermal). Coordinate and manage complex and constantly changing body system specifications and deviations. Establish and maintain control plans and inspection standards to ensure critical features are controlled through the assembly/production processes. Drive control and corrective actions implementation into manufacturing line/design/supplier. Lead/collaborate with review and disposition of discrepant materials identified for control of nonconforming product. Promote and maintain a culture and mindset of continuous improvement, working within the Tesla team to make it more efficient, safer, and a pleasant work environment. Requirements To be successful in this role, you should have: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience required. Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Power Devices, Electronics, or similar relevant experience. Prior relevant experience desired; preferably in a hands-on role like Failure Analysis/Manufacturing/Quality/Management in consumer electronics or automotive. Specific training and demonstrated proficiency in applying quality problem-solving techniques, such as fishbone diagrams, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, etc. For entry-level candidates, internships or participation in student competitions like Formula SAE, Baja SAE, or Solar Vehicle. A broad technical background with the ability to work with engineering, manufacturing, management, and suppliers across a wide variety of issues. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute necessity to establish effective working relationships within Tesla and outside. Excellent problem-solving and Failure Analysis, strong attention to detail, and analytical thinking. Ability to use tools and business system applications to survive, coordinate, and interpret data. Programming Languages and Tools: SQL, Python, Minitab, JMP, or similar are major strengths. Ability, willingness to travel locally and internationally (5% to 10%). Should be thorough, effectively handle multiple priorities, have a strong work ethic, and can meet tight deadlines.
