As a Content Distribution Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that powers Disney's media, advertising, and distribution businesses. Department/Group Overview The Media Engineering organization is a dynamic team that focuses on providing the best possible video playback experience, art, and metadata to customers worldwide. We achieve this by streamlining and repurposing technology across different business and distribution channels, including streaming, linear, and theatrical. As a Content Distribution Engineer, you will be part of the Distribution Engineering team, which develops and maintains CDN configurations for all CDNs in the Disney Distribution Mesh. Key Responsibilities Configure and manage CDN configurations in the Disney Distribution Mesh Actively manage OpenCache deployments with ISPs globally Review performance metrics across our caching infrastructure for improvements, in collaboration with operations and performance management teams Oversee day-to-day operations of the Disney Distribution Mesh Participate in tooling development to integrate 3rd party CDNs into a unified control plane Act as an operational management contact for CDN support, actively managing incidents via communication with CDN support teams Work to solve caching issues in concert with our operations and engineering organizations Provide tier-3 on-call evaluation, escalation, and support Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field Minimum of 3 years of experience managing caching solutions, preferably in a Content Distribution Network environment Experience in Content Distribution Network operations environments Knowledge of CDN provider architectures and configurations Ability to perform network troubleshooting Knowledge of: HTTP/DNS/Internet Architecture Caching (Varnish) Web Serving (NGINX, HAProxy) Cloud Technologies (AWS, GCP) Scripting Languages (Python, et al) Security Protocols (SSL Certificates, TLS) Configuration Management (Ansible, AWX) Effective communication, written and verbal Passion for troubleshooting and debugging Preferred Qualifications Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) Knowledge of automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) Experience with cloud-based CDN solutions (AWS CloudFront, Google Cloud CDN) Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner) Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits As a Content Distribution Engineer at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology, you will have access to a wide range of career growth opportunities and learning benefits, including: Professional development and training programs Mentorship and coaching from experienced engineers Opportunities for career advancement and leadership development Access to cutting-edge technologies and tools Collaboration with talented engineers and professionals Work Environment and Company Culture Our company culture is built on a foundation of innovation, creativity, and collaboration.
