About the Role The Learning Designer II position plays a critical supporting role in the design and development of carrier pilot training programs. This is achieved through the application of Instructional Systems Design, Continuous Improvement, Change Management, and Evaluation processes. As a Learning Designer II, you will work closely with partner groups within Pilot Learning and Development to ensure that pilot training programs are effective, efficient, compliant, and aligned with corporate safety and operational objectives. Key Responsibilities Develop examination reports, design documents, curriculum frames, implementation plans, instructor courseware, and administrative documentation to support pilot training programs. Utilize strong knowledge of technical training programs to ensure that pilot training programs are effective, efficient, and compliant with regulatory requirements. Collaborate with partner groups to design, develop, and implement pilot training programs that meet corporate safety and operational objectives. Support internal and external audits, continuous improvement initiatives, formal research projects, incident investigations, and validations to ensure compliance of courseware with approved curricula. Analyze multiple sources of data to determine training program effectiveness and efficiency and summarize results in formal reports. Develop comprehensive design documents, development plans, implementation plans, and evaluation plans for larger projects. Maintain formal documentation of government and corporate programs, an electronic Program Review Information Base (PADB), and a training recording/verification system. Create instructor guides, schedules, and Learning Objectives Reports as part of content creation responsibilities. Serve as a subject matter expert on adult learning theory, instructional methodologies, compliance requirements, and change management processes. Contribute to the development of new training concepts, methodologies, and standards by applying Instructional Systems Design (ISD) approaches. Practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: A high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency. At least 18 years old and authorized to work in the US. A degree in Education, Instructional Systems Design, Aviation, or comparable work experience. Experience using Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodologies. A minimum of three years of training-related work experience. Project management experience. Experience working with technical training subjects. Experience with compliance training. The ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with internal and external stakeholders. Capable of adjusting to multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. The ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently to meet project deadlines. Basic or intermediate skills with Microsoft Outlook and Word. Preferred Qualifications The following preferred qualifications will give you a competitive edge: Business/Aircraft Transport Pilot, Flight Instructor, Certified Ground/Flight Instructor certifications or military equivalents. Experience designing, developing, or instructing aviation-related subjects. Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and related guidance material. Knowledge of the FAA Advanced Qualification Program (AQP). Experience with training system and compliance auditing. Experience with content management systems (CMS). Proficiency with Smartsheet. Essential to intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, or Project. Experience using Adobe Acrobat. Essential or intermediate proficiency in Adobe FrameMaker or comparable authoring platform. At least one of the following professional certifications: Association of Talent Development (ATD) Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP)/Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD). International Society of Performance Improvement (ISPI) Certified Performance Technologist (CPT). Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP). American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA), Certified Quality Process Analyst (CQPA) certification.
