Job DescriptionShift has a 10-year track record of solving complex problems for Australian businesses. As the Head of Credit, you will be responsible for the effective leadership and day-to-day management of the Credit team. In this role, you will oversee the assessment and ongoing review of the loan portfolio, supporting the Corporate Credit team as part of the annual review process for cash flow lending. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams, leveraging data analytics and technology to enhance credit decisioning and loss mitigation strategies. Your expertise will play a critical role in shaping our risk management approach and elevating the customer experience—contributing directly to Shift’s continued successQualificationsTertiary qualificationsPreviously held Credit DelegationExperience leading a teamExperience Working in a cross functional environmentBusiness Acumen and sound knowledge of business lending marketPrior Experience required:Experience managing a team in a fast-paced environmentExperience assessing commercial credit based on bank statements or non-traditional dataExperience working with data in risk or analytics role advantageousCredit, Risk and Sales experience obtained viaExperience with finance products embedded in Point-of-sale environment is advantageous but not essentialStrong analytical skills, including ability to analyse financials to a high standard. Attention to detail underpinned by intuitive investigative skills ability to make decision in a logical and considered wayAbility to communicate respectfully and in a succinct and informative manner with external and internal stakeholders. Additional InformationTeam Leadership and Management:Leading, mentoring and developing a team of credit analysts focused on assessment of complex deals for middle market borrowers utilising both bank statement and financials to determine credit worthiness and within agreed SLA’s. Creating and fostering a high-performance cultureProvide coaching to direct reports to ensure staff development and growth. Engages the development, implementation, review and monitoring of various credit programs and providing training and coaching to continuously upgrade the competency of the team membersProvide guidance and coaching to sales, relationship Managers and credit team for deals presented for workshop and structuring where they may be “at the margin” risk. Credit Analysis & Approval:Overseeing the credit analysis process which will include reviewing and decisioning applications for credit limitsEnsuring that recommendations and approvals are within Shift’s risk appetite and structured to protect Shift’s position. Identifying, assessing and mitigating credit risks for individual deals and through taking a portfolio view which supports ShiftResponsible for the approval of loans which are outside delegation for Relationship Managers in a timely manner to support a seamless customer experience which balances risk versus reward and is aligned to Shift’s risk appetite. Engage with Sales team for escalated loans and ensure outcomes which are aligned to Shift’s appetite are met through structuring or providing insights as to decisions. Acting quickly to resolve issues and avoid potential loss for diminished business performance. Compliance:Ensuring compliance with all policies and regulations relating to providing credit and lending productsProviding regular training and coaching to team to ensure that compliance requirements are met, including all regulatory training required is up to date. Engaging directly with customers and / or via brokers to determine the strategy to understand customers financial position and best deal structuring to align with Shift’s risk appetite through analysis of financial statements and bank statements creating a whole of customer view. Using data and insights to create genuine customer solution which are within Shift’s risk appetite. Stakeholder Engagement:Regularly engaging and interacting with key internal and external stakeholders to support continuous improvement for the credit function and to solve issues and create better ways of working. Working with Credit Director to develop and maintain credit guidance and process documentation to support the effective management of the credit function to ensure accountability and clear deliverables. Work with data teams to develop accurate and useful reporting to support team successMake recommendations for system and process improvements to enable Shift to reach its objectives.
