We're now seeking an exceptional Director of Product Design, UX - Inspired Shopping to join our team and drive the creation of industry-leading ecommerce experiences. About the Role As the Director of UX for the Inspired Shopping team, you'll oversee a group of approximately 15 designers and design managers responsible for many of Target's ecommerce experiences, including personalization, content management, deals, and top-of-funnel experiences like the Home Page. You'll partner with a broad set of stakeholders to establish design and experience direction, ensuring your team has the resources needed to thrive and deliver outstanding work. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of designers and design managers, providing coaching, mentorship, and guidance to help them grow and develop new skills. Partner with UX, Product, Tech, and Business stakeholders to set the stage for your team to achieve exceptional outcomes and drive Target's ambition to create the most innovative UX team in retail. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Target's priorities and business goals, using this knowledge to inform design direction and decisions. Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture within your team, promoting trust, transparency, and engagement. Champion the strength of the Target brand, ensuring that design solutions align with the company's overall vision and values. Use data to articulate your rationale and communicate recommendations with authority and openness, advocating for design with partners and leaders. Build and maintain relationships with multiple levels of leadership, including other Directors, Sr. Directors, and VPs, to drive impact and achieve results. Scale your team with the right structures, roles, and responsibilities, ensuring that you're well-equipped to meet strategic, business, and financial goals. Lead through change and ambiguity, building a community of practice in a remote world and driving the team's success in a rapidly evolving retail landscape. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: 12+ years of experience in UX/digital product design, with a strong understanding of the craft of design and a keen eye for elevated UI. A foundational understanding of digital retail businesses and the ability to balance short-term and long-term thinking while raising quality and team performance. 5+ years of experience in people leadership, with demonstrated experience in hiring, leading, and coaching high-performing, cross-geography or remote teams. Strong data-driven visual, verbal, and written storytelling skills, with the ability to bring partners along and communicate complex ideas with clarity. Experience successfully managing multiple stakeholders through all phases of the design process, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge: Experience working in large, matrixed, global, or multi-national organizations, with a deep understanding of the complexities and opportunities that come with these environments. A proven ability to proactively identify and resolve issues that may impair the team from meeting strategic, business, or financial goals. Experience managing teams of 15 or more, with a track record of scaling teams to meet growing demands and priorities.
