Job Overview The Lead Data Scientist will be responsible for leading data science initiatives that drive business outcomes, identifying opportunities to leverage data science as a competitive advantage, and mentoring data scientists in the project team. This role will also support the development of a high-level analytics platform that informs business decisions by applying expertise in both business and advanced analytics modeling techniques. Key Responsibilities Model Development (30%): Design and develop algorithms and models to leverage against large datasets to generate business insights; Make informed decisions on the use and interpretation of advanced analytics methodologies; Effectively communicate insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical leaders and business stakeholders/partners; Clearly articulate the impact of recommendations to drive decision-making and execution Project Management and Team Support (25%): Lead and manage large and complex projects and teams; Provide guidance on prioritization of work and ensure quality of work; Provide mentoring and coaching to junior roles to enhance their technical capabilities; Collaborate with managers and team in the delivery of projects and resources; Support recruitment and hiring efforts for the team; Act as a technical subject matter expert (SME) for one or more data science methodologies, both predictive and prescriptive; Lead data science communities across multiple business units Business Collaboration (20%): Leverage broad business knowledge to inform strategy and approach; Build trust and partnership with internal clients and cross-functional teams; Provide technical education on advanced analytics to the data science community; Collaborate with IT to understand potential for new tools and ways of maintaining technical agility for data science; Proactively seek out new business opportunities to leverage data science as a competitive advantage Technical Research and Development (25%): Stay up-to-date on key advancements in data science by attending conferences and publishing papers; Participate in the continuous improvement of data science and analytics by developing replicable solutions (e.g., structured data products, project documentation, process flowcharts) to ensure solutions are leveraged for future projects; Define best practices and develop a clear vision for data analysis and model productionalization; Ownership of reusable algorithms for future use, ensuring developed code/models are documented; Develop expertise in one or more prescriptive modeling techniques, such as optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search, or NLP Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics Demonstrated expertise in predictive modeling, data mining, and data analysis Demonstrated ability to use statistical procedures to identify key insights that help solve business problems Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and support junior team members Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Advanced degree in a relevant field, such as a Master's or Ph. D.
