Role Overview The Staff Counsel Procedural Review Manager will be responsible for managing all Staff Counsel audit activities, ensuring that office files are handled properly and that office practices are in accordance with established procedures, standards, and best practices. This is a key position that requires strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in law, with a minimum of seven years of litigation experience, including insurance defense or personal injury. Key Responsibilities Manage the Staff Counsel audit team and the audit process to measure and ensure proper case handling, reporting, and compliance with Staff Counsel policies and procedures. Prepare reports based on the reviews completed and provide feedback to audit team members about their findings and analysis. Provide objective advice to management and effectively communicate findings and recommendations, including identifying loopholes, manipulation of reporting, gaps in policy, and ways to improve the audit process. Work with senior management to develop audit guidelines and communicate them department-wide. Interview and approve job applicants for employment, draft and administer associate performance appraisals, and initiate or approve salary adjustments, performance ratings, and other personnel changes. Counsel associates and implement corrective action, as appropriate. Adhere to the company's code of conduct, policies, and operating principles. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have: A law degree and be licensed in good standing to practice law in applicable jurisdictions. A minimum of seven years of litigation experience, including insurance defense or personal injury. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to manage a team and provide guidance and direction. Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and provide feedback to team members. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience in a similar role, with a focus on procedural review and audit management. Strong knowledge of insurance defense and personal injury law. Experience with audit software and technology. Certifications or specialized training in audit management or a related field.
