Kaplan University Partners Course Mentor, Part-TimeAbout Kaplan University PartnersKaplan University Partners provides pre-college students with exceptional, career-minded enrichment/certificate programs taught online by world-class experts. Students will receive guidance from mentors who will provide encouragement and direction on assignments, inspire and motivate students to succeed and offer brainstorming and ideation help as students prepare for their final project. Students may range from middle school students to working professionals. About the Course Mentor RoleKaplan University Partners (KUP) is seeking part-time Law/Policy mentors to precollege students enrolled in online programs. Course mentors will engage and support students throughout the course. Mentors also provide support and encouragement at predetermined moments throughout the course, and using digital messaging tools via Canvas inbox. Finally, mentors advise and guide students on course assignments. In preparation for the role, mentors will complete a paid training program (3 hours of self-paced modules and exercises as well as a live component), receive support from KUP staff, and both give and receive support as part of the course mentor team. Key Responsibilities:Provide async guidance, feedback and answer questionsReview course assignments, provide direction and answer questionsAnswer ad hoc questions throughout the course sessionBrainstorm and ideate with students on their final project idea(s)Be familiar with all course materialCheck-in with the program staff at specified periodsReport back on student engagement as requestedTime Commitment:Approximately 3-10+ hours per week of async engagement, feedback and small operational tasksTime commitment will vary based on number of students assigned and is expected to be heavier during the summer months (May - August)Qualifications:Strong passion for course related topicsExperience working with adolescents/teens ages 13-17 from diverse geographical and socio-economic backgroundsPassion for helping others achieve their goals with an emphasis on delighting and engaging studentsAbility to work in the absence of direct supervisory relationshipsDemonstrated ability to learn and work in digital communications platforms such as email, Zoom, Google Hangouts or CanvasPass background checkAuthorization to work in the United StatesApplicants preferred have knowledge or experience in Law/PolicyThe salary range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00 per hour.
