What You Will DoOn a day-to-day basis, the Senior Financial Consultant will drive complex projects that contribute to our clients’ business strategy. Working autonomously and with project team members, they will be expected to produce high-quality analytical work and delegate some tasks to junior staff. Much of this person’s work will involve complex data manipulation and summarization in Excel, but supplemental programming, statistical, and database skills are highly valued and will open up additional opportunities for impactful client assignments and advancement. Typical responsibilities in this role include:Oversee and perform data analysis using various software and programs including Excel, VBA, SAS, R, Python, and proprietary Milliman programs (e.g. MG-ALFA)Assist with consulting for various life insurance and annuity areasParticipate in consulting assignments that include pricing, actuarial modeling, product development, financial projections, and mergers and acquisitions, asset liability management, cash flow testing, statutory, tax, and GAAP valuation, and ERM/ORSA support. Responsible for reviewing the work of others and assisting with research projects and supporting business developmentCoordinate with the rest of the project team to deliver client reports and deliverablesReview reports, presentations, and other documentsAssist with the drafting of proposals and engagement letters to help facilitate the process of bringing in new clients and new assignmentsParticipate in client interaction that generally includes data collection, project updates, answering basic technical questions, and assisting in the delivery of resultsBe expected to add insights into the technical direction of projects, check the initial solutions for reasonability, and assist consultants with client communicationsMay require some travelWhat We Are Looking ForProfessional QualificationsBachelor’s or master’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or another major with quantitative course workTwo or more years of actuarial experience and seven or more years of insurance/finance experienceStrong work ethic and ability to work independentlyProven ability to handle multiple projects and tasks, prioritizing and meeting deadlinesExperience working in a fast-pace work environmentSelf-motivation to deliver high quality work and expand existing skillsetStrong written and verbal communication skills are requiredPersonal QualificationsStrong critical thinking, technical, and analytical skillsSuperb attention to detail and technical accuracyProactive when faced with an inconsistency, missing information or an unusual resultThe ability to work collaboratively and organize various client needs simultaneously across multiple projectsAccustomed to working in a fast-paced environment, willing to put in extra effort when required by our clientsThe ability and willingness to clearly articulate questions and ideasClearly demonstrated leadership and creative thinking abilitiesIntellectual curiosity about the topics of risk, Milliman, and the work of our practiceEnthusiasm for producing high-quality, professional work with accuracy and integrityInspired to contribute to the success of a project and succeed as a teamSelf-starter, with excellent time management skills including collaboration across time zonesLocationThis is a remote position. CompensationThe overall salary range for this role is $117,500 - $232,680. For candidates residing in:Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia the salary range is $129,250 - $213,290. New York City, Newark, San Jose, or San Francisco the salary range is $141,000 - $232,680. All other locations the salary range is $117,500 - $193,900.
