Job Summary We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Asset Personalization Experience team. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of delivering truly tailored entertainment experiences to millions of Netflix members globally. As a crucial leader within our backend product engineering group, you will drive the architecture and development of innovative, customized solutions that power personalized presentations across our extensive content library, spanning product initiatives like Live, Games, and Ads, and reaching members on all their preferred device platforms, including TV, Mobile, and Web. Key Responsibilities Lead the Asset Personalization Experience team, collaborating closely with product managers and designers to define and build the future of content discovery and engagement on Netflix. Pioneer the development of new asset types and adapt existing ones to meet the evolving demands of unique presentation styles, business logic, and merchandising strategies within our dynamic environment. Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive environment, mentoring a diverse team of engineers, including experienced engineers and newcomers. Drive the architecture and development of innovative, customized solutions that power personalized presentations across our extensive content library. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and deployment of new features and technologies. Develop and maintain technical roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business objectives and strategic priorities. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering growth and development within the team. Collaborate with product leaders to influence product direction and roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business objectives and strategic priorities. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including product managers, designers, and engineering teams. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement within the team. Essential Qualifications 3-5 years of experience leading consumer-facing backend distributed systems teams. Experience building consumer products using A/B testing. Strong technical acumen and the ability to serve as a technical advisor and mentor to the team. Proven experience in building and operating distributed systems with a direct and measurable impact on the customer experience. A genuine passion for improving consumer experiences through strong, collaborative partnerships with product leaders. A demonstrated track record of successfully hiring diverse and highly talented engineers and fostering the growth of successful, high-impact teams. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey context to the team, stakeholders, partners, and leadership. A leadership style that emphasizes providing and receiving feedback, encouraging new ideas, and empowering team members through trust and autonomy. Preferred Qualifications Experience with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or Azure. Experience with containerization, such as Docker. Experience with microservices architecture. Experience with DevOps practices, such as continuous integration and continuous deployment. Experience with agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban. Experience with data analysis and visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI. Skills and Competencies Strong technical skills, with expertise in backend distributed systems and cloud-based technologies. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop team members. Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop innovative solutions.
